Situated in the harbor area of Vlissingen Oost and adjacent to the Scheldepoort Ship Repair Yards of the Royal Schelde Shipbuilding Group through whose initiative and generosity this Mission came into being more than thirty years ago. The ownership, management and health of the mission are the responsibility of the Port Committee whose members are all involved in shipping, harbor or local government work.
The spiritual aspects of The Missions work are handled by a pastoralteam, which is headed by the Chaplain and include: Chapel services, Ship visits, Hospital visits, and pastoral work with the members of the congregation.
The Flushing Mission operates in co-operation with the local churches, who reckon the work of the Port Mission as part of their own mission. Extensive support is received from volunteers who drive the bus, man the shop and organize fund-raising activities as well as financially from local enterprises, shipping agents, the pilots and the local churches.
